The Hebrew term for ‘Sanctification’ or ‘holiness’ is ‘Kodesh’, meaning to be set apart or special.
The term “sanctification” refers to the process of separating oneself from the old ways of the flesh and dedicating oneself to God in Christianity.
Christians are separated from sin and the world, but are made partakers of the divine nature through Jesus, and are consecrated to the fellowship and service of God.
John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Christianity calls for a transformation of the individual. We are to break free from worldly temptations and take on a new identity. By separating oneself from the distractions of this world, one can renew their spirit and become a holy version of themselves.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Christians are commanded in the Bible to live holy lives, to be separate because we are not our own and have been bought with a price.

1 Corinthians 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
The will of God is for us to be sanctified. Let us strive to live a holy life, pursuing righteousness and resisting temptation. As we seek to be sanctified, we honor God and His plan for our lives.
