According to a report, 2023 witnessed several alarming environmental records, such as historic glacier ice loss, unprecedented ocean heat wave conditions affecting more than 90% of the world’s oceans, and the lowest-ever recorded levels of Antarctic sea ice.
Most likely, 2024 will surpass the record set by 2023 and the years before. The global climate is changing, and January 2023 was a clear example of how our planet is getting warmer yearly.
The latest report by WMO’s chief climate monitor reveals that January 2023 broke multiple climate records, including the warmest January on record. These facts are hard to ignore.
Samantha Burgess, the deputy director of the Copernicus Climate Change Service, has warned that temperatures in 2023 are expected to surpass those of any period in the last 100,000 years.
The European Commission manages C3S, which compiles temperature readings from various sources, including weather stations, balloons, and satellites, to provide a comprehensive view of global air temperature.
