The start of a new year is when people make resolutions to improve themselves and their lives.

Christians need to think about how they can improve their walk with God.

Perhaps you desire to lose weight or spend more time at the gym.

1 Timothy 4:8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

Resolutions are good; as Christians, we should improve our pursuit of God.

God values the poor and needy, and one of the ways we can be more like him is to care for the poor and needy.

Christians are known for their compassion since God is love.

1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

There are many ways we can love those in need. Pray for those in bondage.

Prayer is one of the most powerful tools God has given us; we can pray on behalf of those in need.  There are so many children around the world who need our help.

Help the elderly, visit nursing homes, and include elderly couples, widows, and widowers around your dinner table. Help the elderly with physical labor in their homes.

Once you begin investing in people’s lives, you will likely find you get more back than you give.

Encourage Persecuted Christians by writing letters to imprisoned believers worldwide and letting them know you are praying for them.

Show Compassion To The Homeless; keep gift cards for food places in your car to give to the homeless when you see them on your city streets.

Volunteer your time to serve at a local homeless shelter. Talk to the homeless in a shelter, and share the love of Christ with them.

Acts 20:35 I have shewed you all things, how that so laboring ye ought to support the weak and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

Proverbs 19:17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye meet withal it shall be measured to you again.

Proverbs 11:24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.

Proverbs 11:25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

Give to your neighbors in poor countries that are starving and do it in secret so God will reward you openly.

Luke 10:26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

Luke 10:27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself.

Luke 10:34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

Luke 10:35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

Luke 10:36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbor unto him that fell among the thieves?

Luke 10:37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

There are over 9 million people who die of starvation in the world a year, and most of them are children. There are over 800 million that do not have enough of the food they need to live an active, healthy life.

So be a real Christian and help your neighbors  around the world in need of your help.
