Those who Read the Bible have Higher levels of Hope

The American Bible Society has published the third chapter of its 12th annual “State of the Bible” report. The report shows that individuals who consistently read and apply the Bible have higher levels of hope and resilience.

“Our research consistently confirms that reading the Bible leads to hope and flourishing. Christians understand that Jesus offers abundant life.”

The director of Ministry Intelligence for the American Bible Society stated that for those who are questioning their faith or in need of reassurance after a difficult season, data shows that applying the truths of Scripture leads to improved health, stronger relationships, and a greater sense of purpose and meaning and brings us closer to God.

This text promotes better health, relationships and purpose through Bible study, not only for Americans but for everyone worldwide.

The Bible teaches that the word of God is not like any other book on planet earth.

The words of the Bible are alive and powerful and go down inside you to even the marrow of your bones. Bone marrow contains cells that produce blood cells and platelets and it is responsible for making billions of new blood cells each day.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The scriptures in the Bible are God-breathed. So when you read the word of God you’re reading the words of God, not just a letter from Paul or Peter or John.

The scriptures are the instructions on how to be a real Christian and be righteous and receive eternal life.

2 Timothy 3:16  All scripture is  God-breathed, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

By reading and studying the Bible those words start to grow within us and we are changed from the old person unto a new people like Jesus.

The Bible uses the word “transform” to change into another form, to transform, to transfigure. This word transform in Greek means metamorphoses which like the caterpillar radically transforms its body, eventually emerging as a butterfly.

We too are like a Caterpillar as a sinner and we change as we read and study the Bible and become a new person in Christ-like a beautiful butterfly.

2 Corinthians 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The Bible uses the words born again. We were once born to are mother and when we come to Christ and read and study the word we are born again a second time by the words in the Bible.

1 Peter 1:23  Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

When we start out we are just like newborn babies but as we study the word we grow in Christ.

1 Peter 2:1 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.

2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.

Ephesians 4:20 But ye have not so learned Christ;

Ephesians 4:21  If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

Ephesians 4:22  That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

Ephesians 4:23  And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

Ephesians 4:24  And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Ephesians 4:25  Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

Ephesians 4:26  Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

Ephesians 4:27  Neither give place to the devil.

Ephesians 4:28  Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

Ephesians 4:29  Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

Ephesians 4:30  And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Ephesians 4:31  Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

Ephesians 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

1 John 4:8  He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
