The Ukrainian Orthodox Church archbishop said that Russian President Vladimir Putin is the “antichrist of our current time.”
Yevstratiy Zoria, the spokesman for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, said he believes Putin is the “antichrist because what he does now, is totally against Gospel, against God’s law.”
There have been numerous books published by so-called prophecy teachers who have different ideas about this antichrist. These theories are picked up by different Pastors and spread as truth.
First, the antichrist that the Bible speaks of is not a certain man but a spirit of antichrist. When John wrote of the antichrist he was then speaking of Jewish people who were deceived and did not believe that Christ had come yet.
They were still waiting for their messiah to deliver them from Rome. Many Jewish people today are still waiting for their messiah.
The so-called prophecy teacher interlaces the word antichrist to many theories and other scriptures to make up their teachings of this world leader.
Their stories make good fiction books and even fiction movies but they are not very Biblical. A fable is a story that is not true.
2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2 Timothy 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
John was talking about the spirit of antichrist which would cover many religions today and individuals that don’t believe Jesus came in the flesh 2,000 yrs ago, died, and then came back alive again and resurrected to set on the right hand of God.
Any world leader that doesn’t believe that Jesus is the messiah the way the Bible teaches would be an antichrist.
So Putin is an antichrist but many other leaders including many in America are antichrist.
Peter said that there would be false teachers who would teach damnable heresies and many would follow them.
2 Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2 Peter 2:2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
There are many in the pulpits today that are teaching false doctrine, you can just turn on the TV and watch many who claim to be of God that are just out to make themselves rich. I would say they are antichrist and not true believers.
People need to lay aside their books and study the Bible.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Here are the scriptures that have the word antichrist in them.
1 John 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
1 John 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
1 John 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
1 John 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
