The Chinese Communist Party has recently created a new state translation of the Bible, claiming that it will help establish a better understanding of the text. However, many view this move as heresy, as the party’s mission is to rewrite the Bible from a communist perspective. It is seen as an attempt by China’s ruling regime to shape the beliefs of its citizens according to its ideology.
The Voice of the Martyrs (VOM), a persecution watchdog serving Christians across the globe, told about the Chinese government’s ongoing efforts to reimagine the Bible. “This is a project that the Chinese Communist Party announced in 2019.”
“At the time, they said it would be about a 10-year process to release a new translation of the Bible,” he said, noting it would include Confucian and Buddhist principles, among others. “This new translation would really support the Communist Party.”
In September 2020, a high school textbook included revised passages from John 8 in their new version.
In the real Bible, there is an example in John 8 where they bring a woman to Jesus caught in the act of adultery, and Jesus forgives her.
In the Chinese government’s new version, purportedly observed in a textbook published in September 2020, the crowd disperses, but then the text states, “When everyone went out, Jesus stoned the woman himself, and said, ‘I am also a sinner.’”
John 8:3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
John 8:4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
John 8:5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
John 8:6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
John 8:7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
John 8:8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
John 8:9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
John 8:10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
China’s Communist Party is a liar.
John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) announced plans to update the Bible to “keep pace with the times.” The revisions will include adding “core socialist values” and removing passages that do not reflect communist beliefs.
