What is DeepMind? And what are the future possibilities?
Deepmind, owned by Google, has its teams to research and build AI systems to solve intelligence.
Go is an extremely sophisticated game that has more possible configurations for pieces on the Go board than there are atoms in the observable universe, and success at the top level is generally reserved for only very gifted human brains.
Lee Se-dol, former champion of the ancient board game Go, played Alphgo, an artificial intelligence system created by Google-owned company, DeepMind.
AlphaGo played Lee at Go in 2016 and shocked the world by beating him four matches to one.
Since that fateful match in 2016, the team at DeepMind has released AlphaGoZero, an even more advanced version of the program.
Within three days of training by playing itself over and over, AlphaGo Zero surpassed the original AlphaGo program, beating it 100 matches to zero.
Lee Se-dol, retired from professional play. His reason? “I’ve realized even if I become the number one, there is an entity that cannot be defeated.”
Stephen Hawking warned that artificial intelligence surpassing human intelligence could be disastrous for humanity.
Will computers eventually be smarter than humans?
For decades, scientists have been thoroughly intrigued by the notion of creating machines that can learn and think on their own. This futuristic concept of autonomous machines has captured the imagination of researchers and has the potential to revolutionize the way we live and work.
Scientists believe that once AI reaches human-level intelligence, it will continue to evolve and improve beyond our own capabilities.
The concern is whether we can create machines more intelligent than us, which in turn can create even more intelligent machines.
This would result in a situation where machine intelligence far surpasses human intelligence, leading to a loss of control.
The attainment of superintelligence is not a question of if, but when. The rise of AI is unprecedented and has the potential to revolutionize the world as we know it. While the acquisition of consciousness by AI is uncertain, there is no denying that the possibilities are endless. It is crucial that we approach AI development with caution and foresight, ensuring that its potential is harnessed for the greater good.
DeepMind recently introduced its new “generalist” AI model, Gato. This model is capable of playing Atari video games, describing images, holding conversations, and even stacking blocks with a real robot arm.
One of DeepMind’s top researchers and a coauthor of the Gato paper, Nando de Freitas, couldn’t contain his excitement.
He tweeted, “The game is over!” suggesting that Gato can now lead to AGI, a concept of human or superhuman level AI.
The image will come alive and can talk. Computers can already talk, but they are like parrots, but this image (AI) will be able to talk like a human, choosing its own words for good or evil.
The image will be able to independent thinking and learning and acquire consciousness.
“Imagine a world where the image (AI) has the power to determine your ability to buy or sell. This is the reality we are facing. In order to live, eat, buy, or sell, you will have to take a mark. Don’t wait until it’s too late, take action now by following the ways of Jesus so you will have eternal life and be prepared for the future on earth and the afterlife.”
