Russia tests new ICBM just 24 hours after Putin issues Nuclear threat to the West

Russia test-fired a nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missile just one day after Putin gave a speech threatening the West with nuclear weapons.

The state-run TASS news agency reported: At the Plesetsk State Test Cosmodrome, crews from the Yoshkar-Ola Missile Force conducted a combat training launch of a mobile-based solid-propellant intercontinental ballistic missile PGRK Yars, equipped with a multiple warhead.

Warheads arrived at the Kura training ground on the Kamchatka Peninsula. Launch confirmed modern missile system’s characteristics. All tasks were completed successfully.

The Russian military has tested its Yars intercontinental ballistic missile and released footage of the launch. The test took place at the Plesetsk test Cosmodrome, which is located 800km north of Moscow.

The news comes just one day after Putin’s State of the Nation address in which he claimed NATO was planning to “strike” Russia, something that he claimed would lead to a nuclear showdown with the West.

The declaration came in response to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s provocative statements during his annual State of the Nation address, where he not only issued a stark warning to the West regarding its support for Ukraine but also boasted about Russia’s nuclear readiness.

“The use of reckless language by the leader of a nuclear-armed nation is unacceptable,” stated the spokesperson.

The United States maintains a position of strength, undeterred by Putin’s intimidations. This is underlined by the existence of a direct and private communication channel with Russia, which details the severe consequences of nuclear weapon deployment.
