“Are you still a child in your Christian faith or have you grown up in your beliefs?”

If you are not reading and studying your Bible, then you are not growing up in God, and your spiritual person is still a child.

This is the reason for many Christians who go to church once a week for an hour and have no further contact with God unless it’s saying grace at dinner time or a prayer for a few minutes before they go to bed.

Not immersing yourself in the word will cause your flesh to be in control, and your flesh will lust and then cause you to sin.

Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

Romans 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Romans 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Galatians 15:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

Galatians 15:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Galatians 15:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 15:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Galatians 15:24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Many people in the church world don’t read the Bible. Reports say that over 75% of churchgoers don’t read the Bible, let alone study it.

Many have opinions about the Bible, but their opinions are not scripture–based. They base their beliefs on a person on TV or a book they read, but they never check that belief or beliefs by scriptures.

The Bible, which is the word of God, teaches us to base our doctrine and our beliefs on the scriptures.

People in the modern world are not taking the most important thing in their lives seriously, which is their salvation. But the scriptures teach to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

It is the hearing of the Word that brings everyone unto Christ.

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

The Bible teaches how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace.

Romans 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Faith comes by hearing the Word of God, and we are born again by the Word. As newborn babes, we take the milk of the Word and grow thereby.

1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

The Word of God is alive, and at work in us and exposes our innermost thoughts and desires, that if you are studying it.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The Word is God-breathed, our doctrine should be based on it, used for reproof as well as correction and it is our instruction in how to be righteous.

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

2 Timothy 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

We study the Word to show ourselves approved unto God by rightly dividing the Word. Here a little and there a little, precept upon precept, and concept upon concept.

As you study the Word you will find out that the verses connect with other verses until each subject explains itself through the Bible.

2 Timothy 2:15 “Study” to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

As you grow in the Word you will find out there are many depths to the Word. The Word is like an onion with many layers and as much as you think you know about the Word of God there are more truths and the depth is infinite.

Remember what Jesus taught that to many, he will say he never knew them because they never knew him.

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
