A famous archaeologist believes he has found the biblical city of Sodom in modern-day Jordan and says there is evidence that proves the city was wiped out by fire.
He says he used the scriptures from the Bible to find Sodom and Gomorrah, and an airburst from God destroyed it. The site was “wiped out in the blink of an eye,”
The story of Sodom and its sister city Gomorrah is one of the Bible’s best-known stories in Genesis 19:1-30.
Genesis 19:24 Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven;
Genesis 19:25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
Genesis 19:26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
Genesis 19:27 And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the Lord:
Genesis 19:28 And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.
Genesis 19:29 And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.
There are many people around the world and even people in churches that are not paying attention to the “example” from God; they will reap the same result, which is the vengeance of eternal fire.
Jude 1:7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an “example,” suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
Everyone agrees on is that something unusual happened at Tall el-Hammam, an ancient settlement near the Dead Sea. In a layer of ancient earth, archaeologists have found evidence of an apocalyptic event:
Disintegrated pottery and unusual patterns in rock formations can be associated with intense heat. Pottery shards with their outer surfaces melted into glass, some bubbled as if boiled, “bubbled,” and melted building brick and plaster, suggesting some unknown high-temperature event.
Objects of daily life, carbonized pieces of wooden beams, charred grain, bones, and limestone cobbles were burned to a chalklike consistency.
Led by the dean of the College of Archaeology at Trinity Southwest University, 21 experts from 19 research institutions weighed in on Tall el-Hammam’s remains, concluding that the nature of the destruction suggested a massive airburst.
“There’s so much specific information about the location of these cities that you would practically have to be blind and illiterate not to be able to find the location of Sodom because there are at least 25 known pieces of geography that you can triangulate between to take you to the city of Sodom. It’s not difficult,” the Dean explained.
The proposed airburst was larger than the 1908 explosion over Tunguska, Russia, where a 50-m-wide that explodes in midair detonated with 1000× more energy than the Hiroshima atomic bomb.”
Most of the 21 authors of the paper are scientist peers who worked “six years” to produce their findings.
