Seafood is important to more than 3 billion people’s diets.
Marine biologist and founder of Mission Blue, Sylvia Earle says that in only 50 years we made the ocean literally collapse. Sylvia was born in Gibbstown, New Jersey and studied science at the Florida State University and did a doctorate at Duke University.
In addition to being an explorer of National Geographic, she was the first woman to assume the scientific leadership of the National Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (Noaa).
She adds about 70 thousand hours underwater doing research and is considered one of the most important oceanographers in the world.
She said that 90% of the big fish has disappeared. Almost 40% of the phytoplankton that generates oxygen and captures the carbon is gone, which disturbs the basic life system of the planet.
That’s only 10 percent of all large fish, both open ocean species including tuna, swordfish, marlin and the large groundfish such as cod, halibut, skates and flounder are left in the sea.
Not just in some areas, not just for some stocks, but for entire communities of these large fish species from the tropics to the poles.
These are the big predators of the sea. Their depletion not only threatens the future of these fish and the fishers that depend on them, it could also bring about a complete re-organization of ocean ecosystems, with unknown global consequences.
In Hosea the Bible gives a prophecy to Israel which I’m sure applies today to the end of the world.
Hosea 4:1 The LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.
Hosea 4:2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.
Hosea 4:3 Therefore shall the land mourn, and everyone that dwelleth therein shall languish=lose or lack vitality; grow weak or feeble, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.
Luke 21:11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
Luke 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
Luke 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. End time Bible!
