Missionaries Remain Kidnapped In Haiti 26 Days Later As US Official Claims Proof Of Life Seen

Ezekial 33:6 But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.

Today marks the 26th day since 17 missionaries were kidnapped in Haiti even as the U.S. government says it has seen proof that at least some members of the group of American and Canadian missionaries are still alive.

The 17 missionaries were kidnapped on Oct. 16 outside Port-au-Prince while on their way home from visiting an orphanage. The group included 12 adults and five children aged 3, 6, 14, 15, with the youngest being just 8 months old.

The missionaries are associated with the Ohio-based Christian aide ministry, which describes itself as a “channel for Amish, Mennonite, and other conservative groups and individuals to minister to physical and spiritual needs around the world.”

Haitian officials have said the gang is demanding $1 million per person ransom. The 400 Mawozo began as small-time local thieves and rose to become one of Haiti’s most feared gangs, controlling a swathe of territory east of the capital Port-au-Prince, according to security experts.

The missionaries were on their way home from building an orphanage, according to a message from Ohio-based Christian Aid Ministries.

Gangs have been accused of kidnapping schoolchildren, doctors, police officers, busloads of passengers and others as they grow more powerful. “Political turmoil, the surge in gang violence, deteriorating socioeconomic conditions including food insecurity and malnutrition all contribute to the worsening of the humanitarian situation,

” BINUH said in its report. “An overstretched and under-resourced police force alone cannot address the security ills of Haiti.”

Pray for the kidnapped missionaries and their families and friends.

1 Peter 3:17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

Matthew 5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

2 Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
