The Global Heatwave is the Hottest in History

The global heatwave continues to sizzle as humanity experiences its hottest summer on record. Since June 10, when the heatwaves first began, more than 2,300 temperature records have been smashed around the globe.

In Phoenix, Arizona, residents have suffered through at least 21 days in a row with temperatures at or above 110ºF (43.3ºC). At night the desert metropolis experienced its “warmest low”  in history: a shocking 97ºF (36.1ºC).

At least 18 people in the area have died from heat so far this year. Climate change experts and social scientists have said for years that the Arizona metropolis would become uninhabitable hot due to climate change.

The American Southwest faces record days over 110 degrees. Florida has measured sea-surface temperatures close to 100. On July 6, the highest nighttime “LOW” temperature in Africa at 103 degrees.

A powerful heat dome has descended on Europe, bringing land surface temperatures to “140” degrees in Spain.

Every year since 2000, an average of 20,000 people have died from extreme heat in European cities, and 61,000 Europeans died in the 2022 heatwave. In response to the catastrophic experience of 2003, European nations and cities have adopted heat adaptation plans.

These include acute emergency response protocols, awareness campaigns, alert systems, and broader climate mitigation strategies such as traffic reduction programs and green building incentives.

Even so, the staggering death toll from 2022 indicates that these plans are not working.

“The world is witnessing temperatures never experienced in recorded history.”

Luke 21:11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and diseases; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

Luke 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

Luke 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
