The Love of God

Love is the theme that goes from the Old Testament through to the New Testament.

The Bible is God’s love letter to you.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

1 John 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins

1 John 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

Jesus taught that you would know people that follow him by their love for each other.

John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

John 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

The early church before they were called Christians were called the way, and that way was love.

1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God, and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

1 John 4:12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

1 John 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

1 John 4:21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

Not only other Christians but are neighbors also.

Galatians 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

We are to love our enemies as well.

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Matthew 5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

1 Corinthians 13:4 Love suffereth long, love is kind; love is not jealous; love doesn’t brag, love is not prideful,

1 Corinthians 13:5 Love doth not behave itself unseemly, love does not seek its own, love is not easily provoked, love thinketh no evil;

1 Corinthians 13:6 Love rejoiceth not in iniquity, love rejoiceth in the truth;

1 Corinthians 13:7-8 Love beareth all things, love believeth all things, love hopeth all things, love endureth all things. Love never fails.

1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
