Freedom in America is Celebrated on the 4th of July

Millions of Americans this week will have their mind on the Fourth of July holiday and what it represents, freedom as a nation.

But many have forgotten the meaning and think it is just a holiday to drink, eat and see fireworks.

U.S. citizens celebrate their freedom on Independence Day, July 4th, 2023 this year.

As Christians, we also celebrate our freedom in Christ and the sacrifice Jesus made to set us free from sin and death.

The Bondage of Sin is the captivity of a sinful life before you come to Christ.

For someone to be set free, they must first have to be bound or imprisoned.

Before you became a Christian, you were a prisoner held under the bondage of sin.  We had no power to overcome the influence of sin. Sin was our ruler, and it held us captive.

When you were born again, you received a new nature, and through the studying of the Bible, we grow in God and become no longer under the control of a sinful nature, and then we can say we have been set free from sin.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is God-breathed, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

2 Timothy 2:15  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

John 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

John 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

John 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

John 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

John 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

John 6:7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.

John 6:8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

Romans 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Galatians 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Galatians 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Galatians 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Romans 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
