How to Survive in a Time of Fear

Trust God! We live in a time of fear and uncertainty.

Fear grabs our attention. It makes us ready to fight or flee.

The news on T.V. on almost every channel and in the newspapers is fear after the  COVID-19 outbreak.

As time draws to the end of the world, the news will become more dangerous and frightening.

There is a way to survive in a time of fear; the answer is to trust the word of God.

You need to be born again by the word of God. You must put the scripture in you so fear doesn’t overtake you.

1 Peter 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

Romans 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

A Christian must overcome fear with love since love casteth out fear.

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

When you love, it takes your mind off of yourself and puts your mind on who you are loving.

Love is the Spirit of God, not the spirit of fear.

1 John 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love, and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

The Bible teaches us to talk to God through prayer.

Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Uncertainty comes from not knowing what’s going to happen. But we do know who’s in control.

Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Proverbs 15:3 The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

So we can love which drives out fear and be certain that God is with us and will help us through anything the devil tries to scare us with.

Christians have the peace of God, so read these scriptures when fear tries to overcome you.

Romans 15:3 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Psalms 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalms 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Psalms 91:3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

Psalms 91:4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Psalms 91:5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

Psalms 91:6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.

Psalms 34:7 The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

Psalms 34:8 O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
