The Minster and his unknown passenger

I want to start out saying we don’t worship angels.

Colossians 2:18 Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshiping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind.

Angels do God’s bidding and are sent to minister to those who are heirs of salvation.

Hebrews 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

I heard a true story I want to share with you. A preacher received a call and was asked to come to a hospital because a man who was dying requested to meet with him. The preacher took his Bible and went to the hospital and when he entered the room, the sick man asked him to take a seat.

The sick man said he needed to ask the preacher forgiveness and went on telling him his story. He asked the preacher if he remembered a few years ago holding a revival at this church for a week, the preacher said yes. He went on to say, you parked your car out back of the church and always left through the back door of the Church, the preacher said yes.

The sick man said I attended those meetings every night and was under strong conviction each night. The sick man said as you would preach I got mad and extremely angered at you each night. On the night before the last night of the revival, I became so angered that I went home and decided I was going to shoot you after service the next night.

I loaded my gun the night of the last service of the revival and took it with me to church. On that night I got up in the middle of the service and went outside to the back and waited for you to come out to your car.

A hour or so passed and you came out to your car and I saw you get in, so I proceeded to your car, before you drove away.

And then to my surprise on the passenger side, I saw that huge man with you. And when he looked at me my anger turned into fear. I was so shaken up I could not move as you drove away.

As the preacher heard the story he forgave him and prayed for him before he left.

As he drove away from the hospital he thought of the story and knew that every night when he left the revival he drove to the hotel by himself with no passenger in his car. He knew that night an angel of the Lord was his passenger.

The Bible speaks of angels many times in many spots.

For those wise Christians, fear God and the angel of the Lord will be with you and deliver you.

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

Psalms 33:8 Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

Psalms 34:7 The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

Hebrews 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
