Being made in the image of God could include giving off a “glow” this inner light shining until the very moments of our earthly existence come to an end.

This glow comes from our connection to the divine, and if you are a Christian, it illuminates our paths and the lives of those around us as we navigate through life.

A recent study on ultraweak photon emission (UPE) found that human beings emit light, a glow so faint it’s invisible to the naked eye, and it disappears at the moment of death.
Humans were first discovered to glow in 2009. This data, compiled by scientists from the University of Calgary and published in The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters, analyzed the phenomenon through the emission of biophotons.
“The existence of ultraweak photon emission is now indisputable,” said the study’s senior author. “This demonstrates that it is not merely an imperfection or the result of other biological processes.”
“It truly originates from all living things. Regarding its functioning, the ‘powerhouse’ of the cell—the mitochondria—releases tiny amounts of reactive oxygen species (ROS) as a byproduct during the energy production process essential for sustaining life.”
The ROS actively reacts with various bodily molecules, including proteins, lipids, and fluorophores. These interactions lead to the emission of biophotons, which generate light.
These new scientific discoveries suggest that the technology used to reveal the soft “glow” may be a non-invasive diagnostic tool for tracking issues within the human body.
“Continuous exposure to high levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS), due to increased production or inadequate antioxidant defenses, is linked to the development of various diseases,” stated the authors of a 2024 study.
“Furthermore, the inability to effectively produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) in response to stressors indicates metabolic dysfunction.
Monitoring ultraweak photon emission (UPE) in living organisms offers a real-time, non-invasive method for early disease diagnosis, allowing for completely passive monitoring.”
