While some experts believe this scenario is unlikely since the volcano has erupted without causing a tsunami, the U.S. faces more immediate mega-tsunami risks in Alaska, Hawaii, and along the West Coast.

These areas have experienced destructive waves in the past due to landslides, volcanic collapses, or earthquakes, similar to those in the Canary Islands. Ongoing volcanic activity and frequent earthquakes put the islands at high risk for tsunamis. While scientists monitor volcanic movements and landslide-prone areas, residents and visitors should remain vigilant for sudden tsunami alerts and evacuation orders.
