Tehran is resolutely moving forward with plans to enhance its production of enriched uranium significantly and to establish a third, highly secure enrichment facility.
Just hours after the UN’s nuclear watchdog criticized Iran’s cooperation, the Tasnim news agency reported that the spokesperson for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) announced plans for a significant increase in the output of enriched material. This decision is a direct response to the International Atomic Energy Agency’s resolution.
On June 12, the IAEA’s 35-nation Board passed a resolution formally stating that Iran has not complied with its safeguards obligations related to nuclear non-proliferation. This announcement came just days before a scheduled meeting between the US and Iran in Oman to discuss a new nuclear deal.
Nineteen Board members voted in favor of the resolution, while Russia, China, and Burkina Faso opposed it. Eleven countries abstained, and two refrained from voting. Proposed by France, Britain, Germany, and the United States, the resolution underscores Iran’s ongoing failure since 2019 to cooperate with the Agency on undeclared nuclear material and activities.
This is the first time in twenty years that the Board has passed a resolution against Iran. Kamalvandi firmly dismissed the resolution as a mere “repeated operation” by Western countries, asserting that their strategy of applying pressure will not produce any outcomes.
He remarked, ‘Regrettably, they are under the illusion that applying various forms of pressure will compel Iran to relinquish its rightful positions.’
This is a significant strategic error they are making. He confirmed that the AEOI chief had communicated the decisions outlined in a joint statement by the Foreign Ministry and AEOI on June 12.
These changes involve establishing a third secure enrichment site and replacing first-generation centrifuges at the Fordow facility with advanced IR-6 machines. This upgrade will lead to a significant increase in enriched material production.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry and the AEOI unequivocally condemned the resolution following its adoption, asserting that it represents a blatant instrumentalization of this council driven by political motives and devoid of any valid technical or legal basis.
The resolution will be referred to the UN Security Council, where international sanctions on Iran will be reinstated through the “snapback” mechanism outlined in the 2015 nuclear deal.
On June 11, Iran’s Ambassador to the UN warned in a letter to the Security Council that Tehran would withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) if the snapback mechanism is activated.
Snapback – a provision that allows for the swift reimposition of United Nations sanctions against Iran if it violates its nuclear commitments.

Luke 21:11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and diseases; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
Luke 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
Luke 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
